What is a dry room

ACH Solutions is a leading dry room manufacturer in Canada, delivering precision low-humidity controlled environments for lithium battery manufacturing, semiconductor fabrication, pharmaceutical processing, and aerospace assembly across Canada and the USA.

A dry room — also called a low-humidity room, dew point room, or dry cleanroom — is a controlled environment where relative humidity (RH) is maintained at extremely low levels, typically below 1% RH or to a specific dew point as low as −65°C. Unlike standard HVAC conditioning, industrial dry rooms require dedicated desiccant dehumidification technology, vapour-sealed construction, and precision control systems that maintain set points continuously under full production load.

In lithium battery manufacturing, moisture causes electrolyte degradation, thermal runaway risk, and reduced cell capacity. In semiconductor dry rooms, uncontrolled humidity leads to yield loss and corrosion. In pharmaceutical dry rooms, hygroscopic APIs absorb moisture and fail specification.

As a dedicated dry room manufacturer in Ontario, ACH Solutions delivers complete dry room construction and IQ/OQ/PQ validation across Canada and the United States — from engineering and in-house fabrication through to qualified handover.

Our engineering approach

Moisture load analysis first. Then we design the dry room.

ACH Solutions controlled environment cold storage room — completed industrial facility Ontario Canada

Every ACH dry room design begins with a complete moisture load analysis. We calculate occupancy moisture generation, process moisture loads, envelope infiltration rates, and airlock ingress — establishing the true dehumidification duty before selecting a single piece of equipment. This prevents the most common dry room failure: an undersized system that cannot hold dew point under real production conditions.

We then specify and install the full system: rotary desiccant dehumidification with regeneration circuits, vapour-sealed modular panel construction, pressure-cascade airlock management, precision temperature control, and BMS monitoring in real time. For regulated industries, documentation is structured from day one for IQ/OQ/PQ qualification.

What we deliver

Six core capabilities in every dry room project.

📊
Moisture Load Analysis
Full calculation of dehumidification duty under actual occupancy — preventing an undersized system that loses dew point under load.
🔬
Desiccant System Design
Rotary desiccant wheel with regeneration — the only practical technology for −40°C to −65°C dew points for battery and semiconductor applications.
🪟
Vapour-Sealed Construction
Every panel joint, service penetration, door frame, and airlock seal is vapour-tight. Vapour infiltration is the number-one dry room failure mode.
🚪
Airlock Entry Management
Engineered airlock sequence with pressure cascade — maintaining dew point under full occupancy and production entry frequency.
IQ/OQ/PQ Documentation
Documentation structured from day one. Complete validation package ready at handover — no separate consultant required.
🏗️
Retrofit Within Active Facilities
Most ACH dry room projects are retrofits inside operating production facilities — delivered without disrupting live adjacent processes.
Industries we serve

Where dry rooms are non-negotiable.

ACH Solutions builds industrial dry rooms across Canada and the United States for every sector where moisture control is critical to product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. If your process requires a dew point below −10°C, standard HVAC conditioning will not meet the requirement.

Dry room delivery process

From dew point specification to validated handover.

Every ACH dry room project follows a structured six-step process. Engineering is never rushed — construction never starts before the humidity control strategy is fully resolved.

Step 01
01
Process & Dew Point Definition
Define exact dew point target, occupancy load, process moisture sources, and production schedule.
Step 02
02
Desiccant System & Envelope Design
Desiccant sizing, regeneration circuit design, airlock sequencing, vapour barrier specification, BMS integration.
Step 03
03
In-House Panel Fabrication
Vapour-sealed modular panels, airlock door systems, and service penetration assemblies manufactured in-house.
Step 04
04
Site Installation & Integration
Panel installation, desiccant unit and ductwork integration — within active facilities using phasing as required.
Step 05
05
Commissioning & Verification
Full commissioning under actual production load — dew point mapping, airlock testing, BMS checks.
Step 06
06
IQ/OQ/PQ & Validated Handover
Full qualification documentation and complete turnover package ready for immediate use by your quality team.

Frequently asked questions

Dry room questions answered directly.

Using rotary desiccant wheel technology, ACH Solutions achieves dew points as low as −65°C. Lithium battery cell assembly typically requires −40°C to −60°C, and pharmaceutical dry rooms may require −20°C to −40°C. We size the system to your actual process load under full occupancy.
A cleanroom controls airborne particulate contamination to an ISO 14644 classification. A dry room controls humidity using desiccant dehumidification. ACH Solutions designs and builds combined environments where your process requires both.
Yes — retrofit within active production facilities is one of our most common project types. We serve the Greater Toronto Area, across Ontario, and nationally throughout Canada and the United States.
Most dry room fit-outs deliver in 8–16 weeks. Complex new builds or combined dry room and cleanroom environments typically deliver in 16–28 weeks.
Standard air conditioning has a practical lower limit of approximately −10°C to −20°C dew point. Rotary desiccant wheel dehumidification adsorbs moisture from the air and regenerates with heat — no refrigerant-based limitation. This is the only practical technology for −40°C to −65°C dew points.
Yes. ACH Solutions structures all construction records from day one. Our handover package includes dew point certification, airlock performance data, BMS calibration records, and complete construction documentation — ready for immediate use without a separate validation consultant.
Lithium-ion battery and EV battery manufacturing, semiconductor and electronics, pharmaceutical manufacturing, aerospace, medical device manufacturing, and advanced materials R&D. ACH Solutions has delivered dry rooms across all of these sectors in Ontario and across Canada.
